Michelle Wilsey is a 29-year-old woman who was just diagnosed with breast cancer. She recently had a double mascetomy and will be undergoing chemo therapy and irradiation this summer. Michelle was told by physicians that the lump she felt in her breast COULD NOT be breast cancer because she was healthy, young and had no history of breast caner, but after insisting that doctor’s due the tests, Michelle was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in April 2008.
Michelle’s life has changed dramatically. And even though she has insurance, there are MANY costs that insurance does not cover. We want to share Michelle’s story and make other young women aware that it can happen to them. Listen to your bodies, and go in for checkups regularly…it can save your life!

I was diagnosed …
I was diagnosed with breast cancer one month after I turned 30. I had a 6 week old baby boy and found a lump breast feeding. I also had a double mastectomy, two rounds of chemo and radiation. I sure hope you are ok… God bless!
I’m sorry to hear …
I’m sorry to hear this has happened to you. You’re in my prayers. As a young woman who had her two aunts and dad have the disease, my sympathies go to you and your family. It’s very hard for young women like us to have doctors look at us as a “high risk category”. I’m trying to get a referral for a mammogram after hearing your story, but my doctor won’t give me a referral for a mammogram even though my dad and aunts had it. Any advice? Thank you.
