Wow! That’s stunning! I guess WE THE PEOPLE are to blame for allowing our gov to get in this condition by allowing politicians to lie to US repeatedly. We can fix this mess if enough people keep on waking up & refusing to function within the democrat/republican paradigm. All of America should be focused on eliminating the federal reserve. Sonicnout I personally believe that the free market/massive competition will take care of insurance companies exploiting most people. Not all insurance companies r bad & many will have to rewrite their policies. If insurance becomes so cheap & a company doesn’t get enough clients they will have to pay out less. But then people will free to get other policies if they so choose. I love it! It’s called FREEDOM! We don’t need the gov managing our lives we can do that for ourselves.

The Feds are a little more discret. But if people are able to retire at 80% of their pay. It sound to me after military spending is removed the Feds are even worse then local government.
Remember all the stimulius mney fot tranportation. My governor said why should I spend the gas tax. He funnel at that money into shoring up pension funds.

What? R u kidding me? I guess that makes sense because where would the money come from to pay gov pension plans if not from the taxpayers since the gov doesn’t actually produce anything. That’s the one area where jobs are not being cut. They just hired 2000 IRS agents to come after US regular folks. Yet 50 people who work in the white house have not even filed taxes. I’ve never even thought about who pays gov pension plans & now that I’m aware of it I’m even more repulsed.

I see your point but the gov could cover everyone who is uncovered for 38 to 40 billion a year. They still have most of the stimulus money. I don’t like that option but it’s much better than a total takeover of the health care system hat will eventually cost multiple trillions. On top of that Obama has already quadrupled what Bush tripled in 8 years. We just don’t have the money. This is not about covering the uninsured; this is a governmental power grab.

The guy who just shot two students in Denver had reportedly wanted to seek psychiatric help, but couldn’t afford it. If we had had some form of universal health care he would have at least had the option to seek help before his problems became dangerous. People are driven to the streets constantly because of medical bankruptcies. Does having an increasing amount of unhealthy destitute citizens make anybody safer? I don’t think so. A nation has a self interest in keeping it’s people healthy.

I can see the point people are making about crossing state lines, the concern is that if state to state restrictions are eased, all insurance companies would relocate to states where regulations are weaker, allowing them to get away with paying out even less coverage and exploiting sick Americans even more. Reducing state-to-state restrictions on patients may be good, but on insurance companies, maybe not so much.

Topgun auto insurance is different because if you get into an accident you could harm someone else. That’s not the case with health care; and also if the gov really wanted to cover everyone they still have most of the stimulus money left & for 40 billion a year they could cover all of the uninsured without the gov federalizing the health care system. I believe that we should be allowed to buy insurance across state lines and that would drive the cost down dramatically. Any company that had a history of denying coverage would be forced out of business because there would be tons of other choices. Here’s the bottom line, we have (so called) representatives who want to put US in jail for not buying government health care insurance. That’s unconstitutional!
